Date night isn’t always the most romantic prospect. You have to book it up well in advance so you can get a babysitter, which you then have to pay for, and then you don’t want to get back too late as you’re probably going to be woken in the night by the kids.
What will make it totally worth it, though, is going somewhere amazing!
This is why we’ve put together a list of our 9 favourite date night venues this winter.
Book a babysitter (we love Likeminders) and start planning where to try out first…
The vibe: An Alpine Lodge in the heart of Kensington – what could be more hygge?
There’s a restaurant, a bar and a disko (sic) so take your dancing shoes.
Food: Austrian and diner classics
Price for two: £60-£80 with booze
Nearest tube: High Street Kensington
Why we love it: Perfect for planning your next ski holiday and letting your hair down. There’s a hilarious karaoke on Thursday nights too if that’s your thing.
The vibe: A new all-day brasserie in Ransome’s Dock by the same talented brothers Richard, Oliver and Gregory Gladwin who set up Rabbit in Chelsea and the Shed in Kensington.
Nutbourne takes its name from the Gladwins’ family farm and vineyard in West Sussex, well known for its award-winning English wine, and offers guests a true taste of rural life with all-British ingredients. Tables have views over the water and you can also sit outside in the vines if its nice.
Food: Sustainable, seasonal British cuisine
Price for two: £50-60
Nearest tube: Sloane Square/South Kensington/Clapham Junction
Why we love it: The food is out of this world, it’s dog-friendly and there’s a stunning outside space overlooking the water
The vibe: A former pub with an open bar, an inventive food and drinks menu and stylish surroundings. The kind of place for a cosy dinner a deux or drinks with a crowd of mates. It’s a local gem.
Price for two: £30-35

Why we love it: Posh pub with the plushest armchairs, perfect for sinking into after a long day (of childcare). We also like the prices – this place isn’t going to break the bank.
The vibe: A Neapolitan inspired pizza restaurant in trendy Exmouth Market. The pizzas are made with double cooked lighter dough and topped with the best quality produce and they’re small – so you can try out more than one!
Founder Anna Skigin has partnered with Eccellenze Campane, the agricultural centre in Naples dedicated to offering only the finest Italian food and drink, to create PANZO.
Price for two: £25
Nearest Tube: Farringdon
Why We love it: Small pizzas mean you can order different ones and we love the cool scandi/Italian design.
The vibe: A country pub on the Suffolk foodie trail for a romantic weekend getaway. Following an extensive two-year refurbishment by husband and wife team, Dominic and Jemima Withey, The Turks Head serves local and seasonal cuisine in a cosy bar, elegant dining room and expansive garden. We love the diverse wine list offering everything from English sparkling to New World wines.
Price for two: £50
Why We love it: Perfect cosy country pub for a romantic weekend getaway.
The vibe: A garden café that serves mouth-watering all day brunch, smoothies and strong coffees by day and loaded buns and killer cocktails by night. The restaurant has a real indoor/outdoor feel, flooded with light, with a large glass façade and a cute garden out the back.
Price for Two: £20-30
Nearest Tube: Balham
Why we love it: Warm, buzzy atmosphere and delicious food, perfect for sharing with your loved one.
The vibe: This restaurant, bar and boutique hotel on the banks of the Thames is a slice of the countryside within the city. The beautifully restored Georgian townhouse was originally built in 1821, and is now the perfect place for a romantic evening out. You could even get there early and enjoy some treatments, therapies and yoga/pilates at its little sister, Bhuti, the newly built eco wellbeing escape.
Price for two: £60-80
Nearest Tube: Richmond
Why We love it: You’ll feel like you’ve had a proper break but you don’t even have to leave London. There’s a stunning garden with wonderful views of the river too.
The vibe: A traditional Victorian tavern with a refined gin parlour and salon upstairs. Every mother’s dream, therefore. Go there for a drink or 10 before dinner.

Why We Love it: The venison is quite simply to die for and great evening vibes always feels like there is a party going on!
