The boys did the @the_bear_trail this week … mud everywhere but great fun. It’s an assault course for all ages just off the M5 - 30 obstacles over 10 acres with a picnic area and wood fired pizzas 🍕 and coffees. We got the memo about bringing a spare change of clothes but no one told us that everyone in the Westcountry now owns a @dryrobe to warm up in afterwards. Thankfully there were hot showers so it didn’t matter 🐻 🐻 🐻 🐻 thanks @fionajvogel for another great suggestion

Ever since finding out I was pregnant with Edgar, then, a few weeks later, the first lockdown descending, I’ve steered away from reading anything sad, seeking out stories that are 100 per cent uplifting.
After reading Sunset, however, I remember how life affirming and important it is to embrace darker subjects. Jessie Cave’s book, her first novel, is a poignant, funny and beautifully written account of grief and siblinghood and what it means to be ok. I loved it and mourned it deeply when I finished, immediately streaming her equally brilliant solo show, Sunrise, which she performed during lockdown (when she also wrote her novel and had her third baby). @jessiecave @sohotheatre

Always so exciting to discover a new #cookbook This one is AMAZING 🤩 The Little Growers Cookbook 🪴 It’s part gardening book, part cookbook, filled with cooking and outdoor activities for the family and delicious recipes. As you can see I homed straight in on the chocolate 🍰 but there are healthy things too such as pumpkin and courgette fritters and 10 veg soup 🍲. One of my fav activities is the little bird seed feeders made out of 🍊 and 🍋. What a great idea. What a great book. RECOMMEND

I’ll never forget the gloomy weeks surrounding m

I’ll never forget the gloomy weeks surrounding my first miscarriage. I was on bed rest for a week, in the hope that my twins might make it but they didn’t. Thankfully I had a compassionate boss, and I stayed at home to recover for a few days. Even so, when I returned to the office the following week I was a wreck. I could just about hold it together in front of my colleagues but the sense of loss was still so raw. It was all I could think about really. I felt let down by my body and struggled to think positively about the future. Great news from New Zealand, therefore, that mothers and their partners are being offered bereavement leave. Labour MP Ginny Andersen, who presented the bill, said it would allow parents to come to terms with their loss without being forced to use up their sick leave entitlements. “The grief that comes with miscarriage is not a sickness; it is a loss,” she said. “That loss takes time – time to recover physically and time to recover mentally; time to recover with a partner.” #miscarriage #miscarriageawareness #miscarriagesupport
