The LEGO Christmas Express puffs into Covent Garden

The LEGO Santa Express

If you’re planning to take your toddler to Covent Garden this Christmas (and if you are, full credit to you), don’t miss the enormous LEGO train which has pulled up in the main Piazza.

Designed by Duncan Titmarsh , the man who probably has the best job in the country, the UK’s only LEGO Certified Professional, and made with 500,000 bricks, the LEGO Christmas Express took eight people about three months to build.

JEFF MOORE 26/11/15 "FREE FOR EDITORIAL USE " #LEGOSantaExpress The LEGO Santa Express puffed into the Covent Garden Piazza this morning to add some Christmas magic. Made with 500,000 LEGO bricks, it features three carriages, the engine and driverÕs cabin, a carriage full of presents and the final carriage is delivering the Christmas Tree. The Christmas Elf will be in charge and takes position in the driving seat. The LEGO Santa Express is complete with special effects including smoke from the funnel, sounds and lights. There are three carriages, the engine and driver’s cabin, a carriage full of presents and another carriage for the Christmas tree. Smoke pours from the funnel, lights flash and a whistle blows.

The train is LEGO’s fifth Christmas build: past installations have included a 30m Christmas tree and a walk-through snow globe.

  • You can find The LEGO Santa Express on the North/East Covent Garden Piazza, from 26th November to 29th December 2015.
